Our Church & Beliefs
Our Focus
As a congregation, our focus stems from the example of the early church, noted in Acts 2, and our priorities are:
Jesus Christ
We acknowledge and worship Jesus as the king and head of His church. We follow Him as our Lord and Saviour. Jesus had no sin yet was made to be sin by dying on the cross of Calvary, willingly, so that anyone who believes and trusts in Him for salvation might know the righteousness of God. As people who stumble and falter in life and faith, regardless of our place on the spectrum of faith, we rely on and rejoice in the love, mercy and grace of God through Jesus Christ. We are imperfect people serving a holy and perfect God.
The Word of God
The Bible is preached, taught and unpacked faithfully week by week, on Sundays, at the midweek meeting and in Bible Studies
Prayer
We believe in the power and necessity of prayer, both individually as Christian believers, but also corporately as a congregation. We offer various opportunities each week to gather together to call on the name of the Lord in prayer.
Fellowship
The Christian life was never designed to be a solitary one; we need the encouragement and companionship of fellow believers to grow and be sustained in our faith, and so we encourage fellowship inside and outside the church; eating together, praying together, and encouraging one another as we share life together.
Our Desire
As a congregation, we desire to know Jesus and make Jesus known. Jesus gave the church a mandate known as ‘The Great Commission’ (Matthew 28), to go out and share the gospel message of good news and to teach, mentor and disciple people in faith. This is our primary goal. Jesus affirmed that the greatest thing we can do in life is love the Lord with all of our heart, mind, soul and strength, and love our neighbours; to be a congregation which demonstrates caring, compassionate, contemporary Christianity for our communities, to the Glory of God.
Our Denomination
Lochbroom & Coigach Free Church is a congregation of the Free Church of Scotland. It is a Presbyterian congregation, one of several that make up the Presbytery of Skye and Wester Ross. This Presbytery is in turn part of a number of Presbyteries representing the whole of Scotland allied to a number of other congregations beyond the Scottish Border.
